The Garden of Faith - 1.1.18

You planted a garden within me
With a tiny seed of faith
And with each Word I heard
That seed began to grow
and germinate
deep inside my soul
I hadn’t even noticed it yet
for it lay beneath the soil

But where you planted seed
An enemy came and grew
Weeds upon weeds
The weeds were doubt
That kept me from
Knowing you
The doubt weeds grew fast and tall
and all too soon
The weeds were all I knew
In fact it’s what others only saw in me
And I saw within myself
And the seed you planted stayed buried
By the relentless weeds

You then came back to visit
the garden of my soul
You noticed the weeds and intervened
You saw my torment
my doubt
my sin
You heard me cry out
And then you saw my seed of faith
That you had planted long ago
You remembered your love for me
My soul washed clean
by the blood of your Son
Was all you needed to see

You came in with your gentle hand
And unwrapped every weed
that was choking my tiny faith seed
And as you did you awakened my soul
You showed me your end-goal
The garden of faith you would like to grow
Of endless blooms of promise and hope

I believed
I trusted
I prayed
You answered

The weeds of doubt
were now all pulled out
The seed of faith
Began to grow once more above the soil
And visible now for not just me to know
You watered my faith seed
You left me your Spirit
To show me
That when the weeds begin to grow
I should daily weed
My garden of faith
and fertilize it with your Word

So now I do remember
When a weed of doubt begins to sprout
It must immediately be pulled out
for you long to make my garden fruitful
and feed my faith with your Word

Caring for a garden is laborsome
but a garden in bloom

Is one that has grown
