How Are We to Love?

If we claim to love and follow God, we must obey Him and what He commands. Jesus commands us to love one another as He loved us.

If you remember His love, it was a love that forgave, a love that healed, delivered and freed many. It was a love that loved the unloved sinners and prostitutes. Whatever condition God found you in when you called out to Him, He loved you and looked past your sins and into your soul and found value in loving you.

That’s the kind of love he wants us to have toward one another. He loved even Judas and ate with him even when He knew the betrayal He was about to face by Him. He hung on the cross as some hurled their insults at Him and He prayed and asked the Father to forgive them for they knew not what they were doing; hating God’s Holy Son.

How is it possible to love some people when their behavior is impossible? Jesus lived it by example. He also taught His disciples to pray for their enemies and bless them and that’s what we are to do when our love runs dry. Forgiveness is part of love, it is a gift. Forgiveness is the gift He gave each one of us when He died for us. Love forgives.

“If you love me, keep my commands.”
‭‭(John‬ ‭14:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
‭‭(John‬ ‭13:34‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
